Every minute you spend with your family is a gift. Don’t waste one moment worrying about whether you can afford your healthcare.
As you may or may not know, Medicare doesn’t always cover all expenses. Sometimes there are “gaps” in coverage that you may receive. These “gaps” can add up quickly potentially costing you thousands of dollars each year.
This is where Medigap comes in. Medigap is a federally regulated private insurance that is designed to help individuals fill those gaps.
Medicare and Medigap
Extensive and quality healthcare is a necessity for most people over the age of sixty-five. The government provides health insurance for most of these individuals or, in certain cases, people who are under the age of sixty-five that have disabilities or permanent kidney failure. This insurance is called Medicare.
However, with each medical service covered by Medicare there are certain costs that you, the patient, are still responsible for.
Original Medicare comes in two parts –
- Medicare A, which provides coverage for in-patient care (such as hospital stays or skilled nursing facilities), hospice care services, and home health care services
- Medicare B, which provides coverage for doctors’ services and outpatient care, preventive services, diagnostic tests, some therapies, and durable medical equipment.
Supplemental health insurance otherwise known as “Medigap” Insurance helps to cover some of the “gaps” in coverage by Medicare Insurance. It does this by working hand-in-hand with Medicare to give you the extra protection you are looking for.
